Vermont's 17-Year-Old Primary Rule

If you will be 18 years old by the date of the General Election (November 4, 2025), you are eligible to register and vote in the August 11th primary — even if you're still 17 on primary day. This means if your 18th birthday is on or before November 4th, your vote counts now.

Register at vote.vermont.gov or at the polls on August 11th. Bring a school ID, passport, or other valid ID.

Know a high school student turning 18 this fall? Tell them. This is their election too.
