Winooski is one of the most diverse and welcoming communities in Vermont, and we are proud of the work our city has done to expand civic participation — including passing an All-Resident Charter Change in July of 2020 for local municipal elections.

State & Federal Elections Require U.S. Citizenship

Winooski's non-resident voting rights sadly do not apply to state or federal elections. Because this is a statewide primary race, you must be a U.S. citizen to vote on August 11th. If you are not yet a citizen but are working toward citizenship, we see you, and we are in your corner. This fight is for you, even when you can't yet cast the ballot yourself.

To be eligible to vote in Vermont, you must be a U.S. citizen, a Vermont resident, and at least 18 years old on or before Election Day (or 17 and turning 18 by the General Election; see the young voter section).
